Paul Sweeney

Paul has recently relocated to Galway after 8 years of studying and working in London and is delighted to join the team at ProActive Physio.
Paul qualified as a physiotherapist in 2018 after completing a master’s degree in Physiotherapy at King’s College London. He previously completed an undergraduate degree in Sports and Exercise Sciences at the University of Limerick in 2015
After qualifying, Paul worked in the National Health Service (NHS) in London across a variety of different specialities including Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Orthopaedics, and Respiratory, before specialising in Musculoskeletal Outpatients in 2020. For the last 4 years, Paul has worked as a senior physiotherapist at St Georges Hospital NHS Trust, which is one of the UK’s largest teaching hospitals.
Outside of the NHS, Paul has worked in sporting environments for Arsenal Football Club Academy and Hammersmith and Fulham Rugby Club.
His broad range of experience allows him to assess and treat a wide range of conditions, helping people not only recover from their pain and injuries but to become fitter stronger and healthier.
Paul has a special interest in the rehabilitation of ACL and shoulder injuries. He is also passionate about how physiotherapy treatment can help improve public health, specifically through influencing behaviour change and promoting the benefits of physical activity and exercise.
In his spare time, Paul enjoys running, strength training and playing golf.
